Free yourself from obsolete devices! I convert VHS, VHS-C, Mini DV, Hi8 and Video8 to a digital Standard Definition MPEG4 file, and deliver on USB or portable hard drive. I convert Australian PAL formats only.

There are many types of MPEG4 compression settings. I convert to H.264 which is the industry standard. This file will play on both PC and Mac computers as well as most smart TVs.

DVD & CD to USB:

Even though DVDs are high quality and convenient to use, many customers are telling me they no longer have DVD players.

I can extract files from DVDs and convert them to Standard Definition MPEG4 (H.264) files for playback on your digital devices.

I can also extract any file type from CD to USB.

HD 8mm Film Scanning

Scan your Super 8mm or standard 8mm silent film reels frame by frame to high definition 1080p MP4 files. Your film will be de-noised and edited together with music.

Now is the right time to convert your silent Standard 8 and Super 8 film to a digital format. Your old 8mm films probably date back to the 1960s and 1970s. By converting them to a digital format, you can preserve them forever without fear of any further deterioration.

Frequently Asked Questions.

 

How long do media conversions take?

All conversions take place in real time – so if you have a 3 hour tape, it will take 3 hours to convert. Once the tape has converted I then need to transfer the file to your USB/hard drive, this can generally be done within an hour.

If you need your tape transferred urgently, give me a call to discuss. I can accommodate tight deadlines.

What if my tape is damaged / too old to convert?

You will only be charged for tapes that are successfully converted. 

What if my tape is TV recordings that I don’t want?

I will not transfer tv recordings unless specifically requested. You will not be charged for unwanted tv recordings.

What type of tapes do you transfer?

I transfer VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS (Super VHS), Mini-DV, Video8, Hi8, Super 8 film and DVD’s.

Where are you located?

I am based in Selby, in the Dandenong Ranges, VIC 3159. I also offer postal or courier services should you live further afield and would like to post your tapes.

What resolution do you convert to?

All tapes (incl. Mini DV, VHS and Video8) are converted to SD (Standard Definition).
All 8mm Film reels are scanned to HD (High Definition).

What size USB do I need to put my tapes onto?

1 hour of footage equals 1GB of converted video file. So if you have a 3 hour tape, you will need a 3GB USB or Hard Drive. If you have 3 x 3 hour tapes, then you will need a 9GB USB or Hard Drive.
